Wambology

I wish to understand the deeper message of Jesus, as revealed not only in the canonical Gospels but also in the ancient wisdom preserved in the Nag Hammadi texts, including the Gospel of Thomas, Gospel of Philip, and others long hidden from the mainstream. I believe Christ came not to start a religion, but to awaken the divine spark within each of us, to show the way back to unity with the Father of Light. This website is for my personal study. Others are welcome.

Vice and Immorality

I take a nuanced position on vice and morality, viewing sin not merely as a transgression against divine law, but as an error in judgment. Traditionally, sin encompasses vices such as pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth. While these activities can be part of the human experience, my focus is on the potential harm they may pose to the individual when left unchecked. An overdependence leisure and pleasure result in weakness. Humans without fear of predators can become fat, lazy and complacent leading to one's eventual destruction.

Salvation

First of all don’t worry about it. If you are reading these words with a sincere desire to gain spiritual knowledge, you have nothing to worry about. It is written, “Those who seek shall find.” The seeker has a special dispensation. One such person lives within the grace of God and is not judged by God. To make errors is human. There is no growth without mistakes. One makes errors, one learns from those errors, and one grows.

The Catholic church agrees. The Catechism states:

“Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart… may achieve eternal salvation.”
— Catechism of the Catholic Church, §847

The New Testament position on salvation in the teaching of Jesus:

On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
“What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”
He answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
“You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” Luke 10:25-35

It is important to realize that salvation, regardless of what one is taught, is not guaranteed by one's beliefs in Jesus:

Mattew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and, in your name, perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
